Book design for Street Level Photoworks' incredibly popular Oscar Marzaroli exhibition.
Street Level Photoworks' approached me to design a book that showcases the iconic photographic work of Oscar Marzaroli. The book consists of portraits and landscapes which capture the atmosphere during a period of enormous social change in Scotland between 1950—1980.
With such stunning imagery, I kept the book's design simple to ensure the photographs are the focal point. For additional visual impact I set specific pages with either a black or white background, carefully chosen to best showcase and compliment the works shot on black and white film. As the book coincided with the exhibition I peppered the book with accents of teal & green as these were the colours painted on the walls in the gallery. I selected a powerful image for the cover and set it to bleed all around the front, back & spine to intrigue the reader into what to expect within.
The book is available to purchase from the Street Level Photoworks website & gallery.
